Moisture Ants, as their name suggests, require a moist environment in order to survive. Guard Pest Control does not recommend chemical treatment for the elimination of these pests.
Typically more yellow in color, permanent control can be attained by resolving and removing the source of moisture.
In some cases, at the request of the customer, we can provide treatment on the interim of appropriate repairs to alleviate the infestations and/or prevent further damage while repairs are in process.
Odorous House Ants, also called "sugar ants", are particularly bothersome. Once these tiny ants enter your home they can be extremely difficult to control. With small nests in multiple locations they are frequently seen in kitchen and bathrooms, but will show up in any area of your home or business.
Odorous House Ants constantly expand and move nest locations. Some scientists believe that their nest system can include entire neighborhoods. These fragmented nests are connected by pheromone trails.
For optimal control of Odorous House Ants we recommend quarterly treatments with our Asset Protection Plan.

Carpenter Ants are large black ants measuring 1/2 inch to 1 inch long. These ants do not actually eat wood but bore through it to build nests called galleries.
Carpenter Ants will leave behind a telling sawdust pile or trails and you may see it spilling from behind your siding, ceilings, or baseboards.
These ants are also frequently mistaken for termites and may be winged/fly. Not only annoying, these pests can damage your home and property so proper treatment is essential.
Ants are one of the most common household pests requiring professional extermination.
Colonies can be difficult to eradicate using store bought treatments and many of these "over the counter" solutions can actually make your problem worse by alerting the ants to your efforts and causing them to split their nests.
Ants may require multiple treatments and their nests can be as large as the several hundreds to thousands.
There are many varieties of ants in the Pacific Northwest. Some of the most common are Carpenter Ants, Odorous House Ants, Pavement Ants, and Moisture Ants.
